Third Annual Southern Horse Festival Returns to Raleigh
RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- From December 2-4, The North Carolina Horse Council will host the area's premier equine event, The Southern Horse Festival. The weekend's events will include world renowned guest clinicians, educational seminars hosted by some of the area's foremost equine authorities, the N.C. Championship Open Horse Show, and outstanding holiday shopping including everything from riding apparel and saddle making, to art, jewelry and equine massage.
In addition, The Mane Event, an outrageous evening of equine excitement, will take place on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30pm in the Dorton Arena. This family-friendly event features cowboy mounted shooters, trick riding, and a musical dressage exhibition among other outstanding acts. Ticket prices for the Mane Event are $10 in advance; $12 at the door.
The festival will be held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, NC. All inclusive ticket prices are as follows: 1-day pass, $10; 3-day pass, $20; 8 years old and under, FREE. Guest Clinicians include Van Hargis (recognized as one of the most versatile horsemen/clinicians), Susan Harris (international clinician and equestrian author and artist), Matt McLaughlin (head trainer for the Royal Lipizzaner Stallion Show), Craig Cameron (one of the original clinicians and "Public Defender of the Horse"), and Tommie Turvey, Jr. (second generation horse trainer and accomplished performer).
Over 50 hours of educational seminars hosted by 30 of the nation's most respected equine authorities will be held in the Jim Graham Building. The N.C. Championship Open Horse Show will be held at the JB Hunt Horse Complex and is open to participants and spectators of all ages.
