Hurricane Harbor, FREE With Six Flags Theme Park Admission, Gets Better and Wetter With Opening of New, Water Thrill Ride
ST. LOUIS, May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Water-lovers Service has issued a special alert for the Midwest region! TORNADO is scheduled to sweep into Six Flags St. Louis' Hurricane Harbor on Saturday, May 28, bringing with it a water experience of epic proportions! Water lovers are encouraged to make preparations to ride the ultimate storm at Hurricane Harbor, a 12-acre tropical island paradise that boasts over 1.2 million gallons of watery fun and is free with a theme park admission!
From 75-ft. in the air, water lovers are plunged down a 132-ft. tunnel before shooting into the large open end of a giant, blue and yellow checkerboard funnel! Over 5,000 gallons of water per minute rushes through the 60-ft. in diameter funnel sending guests spinning and swirling from side to side before splashing through a waterfall below! Guests experience this over-the-top, wet-n-wild water attraction in 4-person, cloverleaf shaped rafts!
TORNADO, which resembles a 60-ft. tall, household funnel lying on its side, has received various accolades including the amusement industry's 2003 Golden Ticket Award for Best Waterpark Ride and the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions 2003 Best New Product Award in the Waterpark Category!
TORNADO is the first major addition to Hurricane Harbor, which opened at Six Flags St. Louis in 1999. Hurricane Harbor is a beach-retreat with over 1,000-tons of sand, thatched roofed buildings, seven water attraction complexes and more! Four tube slides offer twists and turns while careening down from atop a five-story deck! The speed slides offer two enclosed twisting slides and one open slide featuring a 45 degree, 64-ft., straight vertical plunge! And, The Big Kahuna offers a white water rafting adventure on a giant snake-like course!
Guests can float the 1,100-ft. lazy river, Gully Washer Creek or enjoy beachfront bliss at the 30,000-sq. ft. Hurricane Bay wave pool with 560,000 gallons of water and 4-ft. simulated ocean waves. Hook's Lagoon awaits younger guests with a five-story tree house, water-gadgets, slides, a pint- sized pirate ship and more! Hurricane Jane's Island Cafe, Monsoon Marge's gift shop, changing houses, optional tube and locker rentals and restrooms are also available.
