Panama City Beach Open for Business

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla., July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Panama City Beach tourism officials report that hotels, attractions and beaches are open for business and seeing a steady increase in visitors after sustaining only minor damage from Hurricane Dennis.

"Hurricane Dennis came and went, yet Panama City Beach is as good as ever," said Panama City Beach Mayor Lee Sullivan.

The 1999 Panama City Beach nourishment project, along with the first renourishment project currently under construction, proved invaluable during Hurricane Dennis. The Panama City Beaches project did suffer erosion from Hurricane Dennis, however, the project did its job by providing critical protection to beachfront structures and infrastructure during the storm.

"We were pleasantly surprised to see hotel occupancy back to normal immediately following the storm, and with several more weeks of summer, we expect all of our guests will be enjoying our legendary beaches," said Mayor Sullivan. "We're grateful that our beautiful beaches and family resorts are operating as usual, and we expect a continued busy summer season."
