MILWAUKEE, July 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Travel+Leisure magazine has named Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines "World's Best Domestic Airline" in its 2005 World's Best Awards competition -- the seventh times in the 10 years that the magazine's subscribers have selected the world's best services and places.

In the category of domestic airlines, Midwest Airlines came in first with a 75.22 ranking. The top-rated domestic airlines and their scores include:

1. Midwest Airlines 75.22
2. JetBlue Airways 74.73
3. Independence Air 68.71
4. Song 68.66
5. Alaska Airlines 63.21
6. Hawaiian Airlines 62.30
7. Frontier Airlines 62.29
8. Southwest Airlines 61.81
9. Aloha Airlines 60.73
10. Horizon Air 60.39

Timothy E. Hoeksema, chairman and chief executive officer, attributed Midwest Airlines' enviable record to the airline's employees, whose service makes a lasting impression on customers. He added that the announcement comes on the heels of other very positive achievements for Milwaukee's hometown airline, including wide-ranging schedule and service enhancements, strong load factors and market share figures, the launch of new service to Houston Hobby, and recognition by Corporate Report Wisconsin as "Best Airline for Business Travel."

A complete list of winners is on the magazine's Web site -- http://www.travelandleisure.com/ . The winners will also be featured in the August issue of Travel+Leisure.

The airline scores are indexed averages of readers' responses in five categories: cabin comfort, food, inflight service, customer service and value. The questionnaire, developed by the editors of Travel+Leisure in association with Harris Interactive, was made available to subscribers in the first quarter of 2005. Respondents were asked to rate airlines, cities, cruise lines, hotels, islands, car-rental agencies and tour operators/safari outfitters.

Midwest Airlines features jet service throughout the United States, including Milwaukee's most daily nonstop flights and best schedule to major destinations. Skyway Airlines, Inc. -- its wholly owned subsidiary -- operates as Midwest Connect, which offers connections to Midwest Airlines as well as point-to-point service between select markets on regional jet and turboprop aircraft. Together, the airlines offer service to 50 cities, including Houston Hobby - the airline's newest destination. More information is available at http://www.midwestairlines.com/ .
