Remember These Last-Minute Tips for a Smooth Trip

RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- If you are like many Americans, your annual Thanksgiving or holiday trip home to see the family might be your only flight this year. Access America Travel Insurance offers the following simple tips to help you fly like a veteran:

* Get to the airport with plenty of time to check in and get through
security. If you miss your flight, chances are you'll be eating your
turkey at an airport restaurant.

* Plan for the inevitable delay by packing snacks, diapers and
entertainment for your children. Their initial excitement about being
in the airport will wear off quickly.

* Carry phone numbers of hotels, pet sitters, house sitters. Fido
shouldn't have to suffer because you're flight home has been delayed for
eight hours.

* Don't pack your valuables like cameras or must have items like
medication in your checked baggage. Try not to check luggage at all.

* Leave your pocket knife, lighter and giant belt buckle at home. And
before you reach the front of the security line, take off your coat,
remove your computer from your bag and have your boarding pass and photo
ID ready to show TSA personnel.

* Most luggage looks the same. In case a luggage tag becomes separated
from your bag, place identification information inside your bag.

* Make sure you have travel insurance with Travel Delay and Baggage
related benefits. Most policies also include a 24-hour assistance
hotline for emergency travel problems. When problems arise, you're
probably not the only airline customer who is affected, so it's great to
have someone on your side who doesn't work for the airline. Visit
