New explus service includes Washington Dulles-San Antonio, TX, and an additional San Antonio-Los Angeles frequency

CHICAGO, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United Airlines (BULLETIN BOARD: UALAQ) today announced an expansion of explus(sm) service -- the United Express(R) line featuring three classes of seating on state-of-the-art Embraer-170 (70-seat) and Canadair RJ-700* (66-seat) regional jets -- to Washington Dulles-San Antonio, Texas, and an additional daily roundtrip between San Antonio and Los Angeles, both scheduled to begin Oct. 31, 2005.

United Express will also offer new, nonstop daily service between San Francisco and Tucson, Ariz., beginning the same day, on Bombardier Canadair Regional Jet 50-seat aircraft.

"With our recent launch of explus, we're already hearing great feedback on it from our customers. We are pleased now to expand this regional jet service -- as well as other United Express service," said Sean Donohue, vice president-Operational Services, United Express and Ted. "Our customers want a more comfortable travel experience and more routes. This latest expansion further reinforces United's commitment to provide quality and comfort to our customers."

The Washington-San Antonio roundtrip service will be operated by United Express partner Mesa Airlines using CRJ-700 aircraft. The San Antonio-Los Angeles service will be operated by United Express partner Skywest, also on CRJ-700 aircraft. All service is currently open for sale.

The Washington Dulles-San Antonio explus service will depart daily from San Antonio at 12:05 p.m. with a return flight from Washington Dulles at 5:30 p.m. The United Express 50-seat San Francisco-Tucson service will depart daily from Tucson at 6:15 a.m., with a return from San Francisco departing at 6:15 p.m.

The explus brand of United Express offers United First(R) and Economy Plus(R) seating in addition to United Economy(R). The service also features premium snackboxes for United First customers on select flights, full-sized leather seats throughout, large overhead bins and spacious cabins.

Configurations on explus' top-line regional jets include six seats in United First, 28 Economy Plus seats and 32 United Economy seats. Currently, the majority of explus service is available between Chicago O'Hare and Austin, Texas; Colorado Springs, Colo.; White Plains, N.Y.; Portland, Maine; and Montreal, Ottawa, and Edmonton (Alberta), Canada; and will expand to a number of other cities in September and October. Nearly one-third of the United Express fleet is scheduled to operate as explus by the end of 2005. All routes and roll-out dates are subject to change.
