United Airlines Enhances Customers’ Wireless Access to Real-Time Travel Information, Improves Travel Experience

United’s ‘channel’ on tech company’s travel guide offers weather updates, city guides and maps, in addition to flight information

CHICAGO, March 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — As part of its continuous improvement of the customer experience, United Airlines is enhancing customers’ wireless access to flight information by adding real-time access to other pertinent travel information such as city guides, maps and weather reports via hand-held devices.

United is partnering with iAnywhere, a subsidiary of Sybase (NYSE:SY) , through its AvantGo(R) mobile Internet service to make this information available to customers.

The new feature offers United’s flight and other travel information in a user-friendly format for customers on their hand-held devices. Customers may easily view flight status, itinerary information, Mileage Plus(R) summary and more — saving valuable time for United’s most frequent flyers. Additionally, United customers may save features in their hand-held devices for quick access to more personalized information each time they travel.

“We are committed to delivering innovative service to our customers,” said Kenneth Feldman, vice president-Loyalty and e-Commerce. “Offering a United channel on the AvantGo mobile Internet service gives our customers a dynamic way to access not only flight information, but also real-time travel information, further enhancing their overall travel experience.”

The newly available travel information for United customers is part of the AvantGo Travel Guide, a feature of AvantGo’s free mobile Internet service for smartphones and PDAs. It complements and integrates United’s wireless services currently available to hand-held device users. These services include EasyUpdate, which notifies customers of a change in flight status, and EasyAccess, which provides access to flight schedules and itineraries and Mileage Plus(R) account summaries.

To access the free travel tool, United customers who are not already AvantGo subscribers may register for the AvantGo service at http://www.avantgo.com/ .

United’s EasyUpdate and EasyAccess travel tools are currently available to all customers online at http://www.united.com/wireless .
