CHICAGO, June 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United Airlines today announced a 3 percent fare increase on most U.S. domestic and international published fares across its system, effective immediately.

"With oil continuing to trade at historically high levels, all industries must act responsibly to offset rising costs. We are seeing resulting price increases at the gas pump and in energy bills. We are confident our customers will understand that we must take appropriate measures to mitigate our higher fuel costs," says John Tague, United's executive vice president-Marketing, Sales and Revenue.

Fares have been increased by an average of 3 percent. Sale fare levels along with some specialty and contracted pricing are not impacted by the increase, but nearly all other fares to and from domestic and most international destinations are affected. Select international fares are not affected.
