United offers more redemption choices at online auction site

CHICAGO, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — United Airlines is making its award-winning Mileage Plus program stronger than ever before and will offer members more choices, more rewards and more recognition opportunities in 2006.

“We continually look for ways to recognize and reward our loyal customers and ensure Mileage Plus members receive benefits they will truly value and enjoy,” said Kenneth Feldman, vice president, Loyalty & e-commerce. “For 2006, we’re offering an exciting array of rewards, from dining certificates, to triple flight miles, to a tour of United’s Flight Training Center, when members achieve certain milestones.”

More Rewards

Beginning Jan. 1, 2006, Mileage Plus members will be offered the option to choose a reward when they reach the following milestones: 40,000 Elite Qualifying Miles (EQM) or 40 Elite Qualifying Segments (EQS); 75,000 EQM or 75 EQS; 125,000 EQM or 125 EQS; and 300,000 EQM or 300 EQS. These rewards require no mileage redemption and are in addition to miles earned as well as other elite benefits.

Reward choices include the following:
— Dining certificates
— Behind-the-scenes tour of the United Flight Training Center in
Denver, Colo.
— Triple flight miles for one month
— Multiple entries in a sweepstakes for a chance to win a golfer’s
dream trip to Hawaii
— The ability to nominate another Mileage Plus member to elite status

More Choices

In 2006, all members will have more choices for redeeming their miles, including exclusive items and experiences from United’s online auction site, such as shark diving, NASCAR racing and spa treatments.

Feldman said, “The auction site has proved extremely popular with our members and has generated bids ranging from 30,000 miles for a spa body wrap to 1.4 million miles for a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire.” Members will have a second chance to bid on a new Crossfire beginning Nov. 16. Other items currently available include a Grand Canyon River tour, hot-air balloon flight and private cooking lessons.

Members will also have more opportunity to redeem miles with Swiss International Air Lines and South African Airways in March, when they become new Star Alliance airlines, and with Qatar Airways in February.

More Recognition

As an added benefit for our most loyal customers, United is eliminating Mileage Plus award service fees through 2006 for all 1K and Global Services members effective Nov. 15, 2005. Additionally, customers who hold Million Miler Flyer status will receive two confirmed regional upgrades on Jan. 1, 2006, good for future paid, qualifying travel anywhere in North America, the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico.
