Valleyfair Launches New World Class Thrill Ride on December 19th
Santa Claus First Official Rider
MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Although the park doesn't open until May 13, 2006, Valleyfair can't wait to launch its new world-class thrill ride Xtreme Swing -- the first operational ride of its kind in the world.
Members of the World Famous Radio City Rockettes will help "kick-off" the new ride on Monday, December 19, 2005, at approximately 12:30 p.m., (CST). The ride then takes flight with Jolly Old St. Nick on board. This is the first ride in the park's 29-year history to debut in the winter.
Xtreme Swing is an air-launched super swing set. The $6 million attraction towers 100 feet tall and accommodates 40 passengers, who are seated back-to-back in two rows of 10 riders each on two giant swinging arms. Ride motion is that of a pendulum, suspended from an axle, swinging in an arc, back and forth -- just like a child's playground swing; except this ride takes you higher -- up to 125 feet in the air and faster -- up to 60 miles an hour.
Xtreme Swing is designed by S & S Worldwide Inc., based in Logan, Utah. Xtreme Swing is the company's first 40-passenger swing ride.
With more than 75 rides and attractions, Valleyfair is the largest amusement park in the upper Midwest.
Valleyfair is owned and operated by Cedar Fair, L.P., a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "FUN." In addition to Valleyfair, Cedar Fair owns and operates six other amusement parks, five water parks and one indoor water park resort.
