Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge Returns to SouthShore Golf Club at Lake Las Vegas Resort on Nov. 15

Golf Tournament Raises More Than $18 million for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption

HENDERSON, Nev., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ — Some of the biggest stars from the PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and LPGA will battle for a $900,000 purse and tour bragging rights at the 2005 Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge presented by Dr Pepper, Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Lake Las Vegas Resort’s SouthShore Golf Club. ABC Sports will televise delayed coverage of the event, Saturday, Dec. 17 and Sunday, Dec. 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. EST/ 1 to 3 p.m. PST. (Please check your local listings.)

Representing the Champions Tour will be Hale Irwin, Jay Haas and Craig Stadler. Playing for the PGA TOUR will be three of America’s favorites: Mark Calcavecchia, Kenny Perry and John Daly, and representing the LPGA will be Lorena Ochoa, Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge veteran Grace Park and LPGA star Cristie Kerr.

The event format features three players from the PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and LPGA matched against each other in competitive threesomes. Each threesome consists of one player from each tour and the tournament format includes two separate, nine-hole stroke-play matches. The first team (TBD) is scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m. and the final group (TBD) will tee off at 8:50 a.m. Tickets may be obtained in advance at Las Vegas area Wendy’s restaurants and Lake Las Vegas Resort’s Information Pavilion.

Celebrating its 14th season, the Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge marks the only time that all three tours will compete against each other in 2005. Viewers will be treated to some of the best action inside the ropes with extensive 18-hole, tee-to-green coverage. With the use of wireless microphones on the players, the gallery and TV viewers will get the added benefit of listening in to the personal comments and camaraderie that is rarely seen or heard during regular tour events.

The Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge was started in 1992 and benefits the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and has contributed more than $18 million for the national charity over the previous 13 years. The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption was established to raise public awareness about the thousands of children awaiting adoption in the United States, to educate prospective parents about the adoption process and to form public and private partnerships to help make the process easier and more affordable.

The 2005 Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge will mark the ninth year this made-for-television tournament has been held at Lake Las Vegas Resort and the fourth time it’s been played at SouthShore Golf Club, the first private Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in Nevada. SouthShore Golf Club was named by Golf Week as fifteenth among “America’s Best Top 100 Residential Courses” in 2005 and in 2003 among the publication’s list of “100 Best Modern Courses.” In addition, the esteemed course, the year after it opened, was honored by Golf Digest as one of the country’s “Top Ten New Private Courses” in 1996.
