Your Story Needed for the YMCA Camp Orkila Centennial

SEATTLE, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ — Founded in 1906 on Orcas Island, YMCA Camp Orkila is a true Northwest treasure, bringing together a diverse community of children and families of all backgrounds and income levels. Hundreds of thousands of campers have gathered together over the last 100 years to break down barriers and to learn positive core values.

In preparation for next summer’s Centennial Celebration, the YMCA of Greater Seattle has launched an all-out effort to gather past Orkila participants’ memories — of archery, adventure, campouts, crazy campfire skits, kayaking, swimming and even first crushes — through a new online form or telephone interviews. All former summer campers, Outdoor Environmental Education students, family campers, staff members and volunteers are encouraged to share their experiences.

To learn more about Centennial Celebrations planned for June 22-25, 2006, and share how the magic of Camp Orkila helped shape your life, visit www.camporkila.org/alumni or call YMCA Camping Services, 206-382-5009.
