Delta Customers Offered Expanded Snack Service on More Flights

Changes include consistent, simplified onboard experience

ATLANTA, March 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) customers will receive expanded snack selections on more flights beginning April 3, 2005. As the airline transforms to provide customers with a more consistent travel experience, Delta will replace its current food program, including food for purchase available on select flights, with complimentary snack options in Economy Class on all flights of greater than 1-1/2 hours within the 48 contiguous states, Canada, and certain Latin American and Caribbean destinations, excluding Delta Shuttle and Song.

– A wider assortment of name-brand snacks for customers to enjoy such as
a choice of SunChips(R) Multigrain Snacks, Quaker(R) Chocolate Chip
Chewy Granola Bar, Kings(TM) Honey Roasted Peanuts, Old Colony(R) Big
Top(TM) Animal Crackers, and Lance(R) Swiss on Wheat Crackers in First
Class on all flights and in Economy Class on flights of 1-1/2 hours or
– A pre-packaged Snack Pack filled with crackers, cheese, Oreo(R)
cookies, and Sun-Maid(R) raisins in Economy Class on flights longer
than 3-1/2 hours.

In First Class, Delta will continue to offer complimentary meal service on flights longer than 3-1/2 hours and in select business markets on flights less than 3-1/2 hours, including flights between Atlanta and Boston, New York’s LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy (JFK) airports, and between Cincinnati and Boston.

On international flights of approximately five hours and longer, as well as flights to/from Hawaii and Alaska, all classes of service will continue to receive complimentary meal service. Delta will continue to offer its BusinessElite(R) meal service to international business customers.

In addition, Delta will change the charge for alcoholic beverages from $4 to $5 on all domestic and international flights, including flights operated by the Delta Connection carriers. These changes do not apply to flights operated by Song, Delta’s low-fare air service. Alcoholic beverages continue to be complimentary on Delta Shuttle and in Delta’s First, Business and BusinessElite(R) classes of service. Also, pillows will no longer be provided on flights within the 48 contiguous states, Bermuda, Canada, and Central American and Caribbean destinations beginning in mid-March as part of the airline’s efforts to provide more room for carry-on luggage in overhead bins while reducing costs. Blankets will continue to be available on these flights.

These changes are part of Delta’s transformation plan, which includes initiatives intended to add value to its customers’ travel experience while making it easier to do business with Delta. Other transformation plan initiatives that have recently been implemented to date include:

– Reducing most special service fees to $50;
– Providing more self-service technology at and at the airport;
