Barcelo Hotels & Resorts Updates Status of its Mayan Riviera and Cancun Properties

CANCUN, Mexico, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ — Barcelo Hotels & Resorts is pleased to report that there are no reported injuries to guests or staff at any of its six properties in Cancun and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico following Hurricane Wilma.

The Barcelo Maya Beach Resort that includes the Maya Beach Hotel, the Caribe Beach Hotel, as well as the Tropical Beach Hotel and The Colonial Beach Hotel, which are officially scheduled to open in December, sustained minimal damage and is presently serving the needs of its current guests with limited facilities. However, these four hotels have temporarily suspended new arrivals until November 10, 2005. Any guests who are booked into these four properties between now and November 10, will be granted a full-refund. Guests with reservations should contact their travel agent. The hotels expect to resume limited operations following November 10, and travel agents will be advised of services and amenities at each property as they are restored.

In Cancun, the Barcelo Las Perlas and the Barcelo Tucancun are closed until further notice. Again, cancellation penalties are also suspended.
