Jet Aviation Leads the Return of Private Jets to Reagan National

Inaugural Flight Marks Reopening of Airport to Corporate Aviation for First Time Since September 11, 2001

WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ — Jet Aviation was the first charter services company on the runway when general aviation resumed at Reagan National Airport, Washington, D.C., today for the first time in four years. The flight departed from Jet Aviation’s FBO in Teterboro, NJ, one of 12 Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approved gateway airports where charter flights must originate in order to land at Reagan National. The flight was operated by New World Jet Corporation, the first Part 135 operator approved by the TSA for access into Reagan National.

Passengers aboard the inaugural flight included James K. Coyne, president, National Air Transportation Association, Robert Seidel, senior vice president and general manager of Jet Aviation’s U.S. charter services, and Richard Kunert, New World Jet Corporation’s Director of Security. Theo Staub, president and COO of Jet Aviation’s U.S. operations, greeted the jet at Reagan National. The flight symbolized freedom, and recovery from the attacks on the nation’s Capital that ended private jet traffic there four years ago.

“Reagan National is back in business, a historic moment for the private jet industry and the nation,” said Theo Staub, president and COO of Jet Aviation’s U.S. operations. “Jet Aviation is doing its part to make sure that the return of private jet traffic to the airport is secure by developing our own comprehensive Armed Security Officer program, so that our clients may fly safely and conveniently to Reagan National.”

Jet Professionals, LLC, the premier aviation staffing service and a division of the Jet Aviation Group, offers the Armed Security Officer program, providing clients a seamless solution for charter security on flights to Reagan National. The division also is finalizing plans to extend the program to clients who wish to be escorted by security professionals while traveling to airports that do not require this measure.

Jet Aviation was founded in Switzerland in 1967 and is the leading business aviation services company today. More than 3,500 personnel are employed in over 60 facilities and stations worldwide. The company provides maintenance, completions and engineering services, fixed base operations, along with aircraft sales, charter services, and management on a global basis. Jet Aviation’s U.S. partner, New World Jet Corporation, and Jet Aviation Europe’s aircraft management and charter divisions jointly operate a fleet of more than 160 aircraft, and provided close to 60,000 hours in global flight operations in 2004.
