United Airlines, Chase Welcome Loyal Customers Onboard With New Rewards Credit Card

Cardmembers Enjoy Miles Toward Elite Status, Free Anniversary Companion Ticket, No Mileage Cap and More

CHICAGO and WILMINGTON, Del., May 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — United (BULLETIN BOARD: UALAQ.OB) and Chase (NYSE:JPM) today added a new rewards card to their fleet — the United Mileage Plus(R) Platinum Class Signature Visa(R) card, giving travelers more mileage-earning capabilities and accelerated eligibility toward elite status. For the first time, United’s loyal customers can get a Mileage Plus Visa card that does not have a mileage cap and enables them to earn:

— up to 15,000 miles toward elite status;
— double miles for United, Star Alliance and other everyday purchases;
— and an annual free companion ticket.

New cardmembers will earn 15,000 redeemable bonus miles after the first use of their card and 5,000 of those miles will also count toward Mileage Plus elite status. Cardmembers will also have the opportunity to earn an additional 5,000 Elite Qualifying Miles, which are miles toward elite status, for making purchases with the card over a designated amount during the year. For tickets purchased on united.com, cardmembers can also earn up to 5,000 Elite Qualifying Miles. A special anniversary companion ticket will also be provided to cardholders annually to take a friend along for the ride on United, United Express or Ted.

Another exclusive benefit to the United Mileage Plus Platinum Class Signature Visa card is that there is no mileage cap for cardmembers regardless of their program status level. They earn double miles on both United and Star Alliance purchases and for specific everyday spending including buying groceries, filling up the gas tank, dining out or even making qualifying home improvement purchases.

“The new United Mileage Plus Platinum Class Signature Visa card offers customers extraordinary benefits that they have told us they want — quicker elite status in the Mileage Plus program and more ways to earn miles,” said Dennis Cary, senior vice president of marketing for United. “As we offer new ways for our Mileage Plus members to earn miles and obtain elite status, we are also giving them new options to redeem miles for air travel, hotel stays, car rentals, cruises and even music.”

“We continue to expand and enhance our United Mileage Plus Visa card portfolio to create products that suit the individual needs of every United loyalist,” said Joe Venuti, senior vice president for JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s card services division. “The addition of the United Mileage Plus Platinum Class Signature Visa card gives business travelers a convenient way to reap rewards for their business travel throughout the year.”
