United Airlines Expands San Francisco-Sydney Service

Additional flight reinforces United’s leadership position in the Pacific and at the San Francisco International Airport, and its commitment to international service.

CHICAGO, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — United will offer three additional weekly roundtrip flights between San Francisco International Airport (SFO), a major gateway to the Far East and South Pacific, and Sydney Kingsford-Smith Airport in Australia, between Dec. 16, 2005, and Jan. 8, 2006 — a peak holiday travel season for both countries.

United currently offers daily service between San Francisco and Sydney. The additional flights will increase United’s capacity between the two cities by more than 40% during this period.

“Our service expansion builds on the success of our existing service between the U.S. and Australia,” said Graham Atkinson, senior vice president- Worldwide Sales and Alliances. “It also provides our customers more travel options during the holiday season from what is already one of our most important international gateways — San Francisco — in terms of passengers and revenue, and reinforces United’s leadership position on the U.S. West Coast and in the Pacific.”

The new San Francisco-Sydney flights are timed to maximize convenience and connections at both airports, and will be operated with B747-400 aircraft, configured with 14 seats in United First(R), 73 seats in United Business(R), 88 seats in Economy Plus(R) and 172 seats in United Economy(R).

Flights are open for sale now.

United also offers daily service between Los Angeles and Sydney, with a seasonal increase in service, as announced in July.
